Thanks for the compliment! And I love your LEGO shapes! Neat idea! :D

I think you can chalk my interest in powers of two up to general nerdiness. One of the things I love about knitting is that, fundamentally, knitting patterns are all based around math. I've had to dig up more high school algebra since I started knitting than I ever needed for anything else in my day-to-day life! Squares and powers of two are a pretty natural fit, and my husband's also pretty fascinated by powers of two.

Sadly, the powers of two blanket may end up getting recycled into a much faster-to-knit project. I definitely want to do something along these lines eventually, but those mitered squares are a real pain! Maybe I should think about some other kind of square. :)

The Powers of Two blanket is very cool. I love powers of two myself, but I build them with Legos. I did one with rectangular shapes so they'd stack better (take a look at http://www.exploringbinary.com/my-fascination-with-binary-numbers/).

Not many people are fascinated with powers of two -- where did you get your inspiration?
